In a convection oven, the side facing the heating element runs hotter. Rotating the tumbler halfway through evens out the color. The oven preset splits the bake into two stages and prompts you, with a beep, when it's time to rotate.

Ghosting (a blurry double image) happens when the paper shifts against the blank while it's hot. When the alarm sounds: open the press smoothly, lift the paper straight up in one motion, never slide it, and use heat tape so nothing moves.
